Redesigning toys: wind up amigurumi frog

Toy shop is always be my second favorite place to visit.
it's the second favorite after book shop cause there are more bookshops than toy shops.
I love admiring cute toys, like cooking toys set and of course plushies :)
but toys are not always cute and easily loved, blame the human who made it  (just watch the Toy Story).
The Toys need help.
so I secretly made a mission to give a "face lift" to cheap toys.
last week, I finally found a cheap wind up toys at the supermarket.
it's perfect cause it has teeth!  reminds me of my gigi series.
the first wind up toy I bought were already broken, so I tried my luck to buy the second one, and thankfully it's fine, so I didn't wait any longer to do the operation.

I shot a video of the jumping frog but somehow it ended up broken during the upload process.

Chessy The Cat

it's been long since I made my last gigi series,
So now it's time for a new one, Chessy the Cat

Gigi series is all about teeth, so of course I had to make Chesire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
Cat is my less favorite character, but Disney's Chesire is an exceptional, maybe because of his smile.
Chessy's stripped purple top is based on Disney's Chesire.

it's more like an equation, if Do=C, then F=?

"Faaaaa" to be a great singer, you need to practice your articulation!

I think it'd be fun to make all do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti but I don't have enough clay for it :(
however, fa is the focus here so, I only made that one.

different gadget, different cable, I really hate organizing those cables. How about you?

a friend of mine who was my classmate at Junior High school, whose brother was classmate to my sister at the same Junior High School, who then studying at the same college (same subject) with my sister, then works at the same company also with my sister, ask me to make a smile emoticon from Yahoo! Messenger.

it's always fun telling the story of that person :D

Penelope and the Daisies

Penelope is a piglet,

My Mom recently bought some Daisies.

Daisies are my favorite flower, firstly because their name are similar to mine,

and secondly because they don't have fragrance or bright colors

they are simple but pretty

I think most girls are like daisies, they don't have to be roses to be pretty,

Pumpkin or Orange?

Happy Halloween!
again, there's no Halloween here :(
basically I spend my Halloween at home, watching DVDs and crocheting.

Today, I made a Pumpkin boy, at least it was meant to be a pumpkin, but it ended up as an orange boy.

Hey, Des, stop watching DVDs, let's do trick or treats!

Maybe I used the wrong tone of orange, cause I don't remember how the real pumpkins are :p
Now I get it why there's no Halloween!
because there's not enough pumpkin to carved.
it just not a common food here.

 well there's no Halloween, but I could play some tricks here >:)

Flying Fox

Were I a fox, I wouldn't jump over the lazy dog, I would fly over the dogs :)

the fox design was made a few months ago, but I just got time to realized it this week.
I don't know about the other place, you could find flying foxes almost everywhere in Indonesia.
at the forest (outbound trip), at tourist spots, and in some malls.
umm.. I'm not talking about the flying animal, it's something like this
Do people really like it?  is it really fun?
my only adrenalin sport is watching horrors, I hate scaring my self to death by something which involves higher places.


By the way, at the same time I was making this fox, the next studio where I am working for was designing a fox, a mascot for a community.
Just in case my fellow friend from that studio read this blog.  This fox is unfortunately not based nor inspired from your design.  It's purely coincidence, cool isn't it?

three years

Three years ago I was graduated
Three years ago I started working
Three years ago I started to crochet again

Since I'm celebrating my third years of working, I made something related to the past project I was involved.
I was going to make crochet version of a cool dog named Petals
but it was really hard! I meant what makes a bulldog bulldog is the cheeks!
I gave up making Petals, instead finishing it, I finished an orangutan doll.
Yesterday I tried making a bulldog again, and I did it, tough it doesn't looked like the real Petals.

I really miss that dog!

Orangutanku #6: Upik

This orangutanku project is probably my most ambitious project I ever made.
I meant, making at least 27 dolls for adopting one real orangutan.
Upik is my 7th Orangutanku dolls.  The first orangutanku doll is not available for adoption yet, that's why this post title is Orangutanku #6 not #7.
Honestly, I'm bored of using the same pattern and the same yarns after making my 5th orangutanku dolls.
as you see Felipe has different color combination, now Upik too has another color combination.
I wanted to make her black like the gentle gorilla, but too much black yarns makes my eyes sore.
So I chose gray and black.


And, I made a little experiment, I put Upik in a cage.

She's gone mad, and show some teeth.

err... Okay She's very angry so I released her.

Nothing changed. She still mad at me.
She doesn't trust me anymore.

Lesson learned: Do not keep orangutans or any other wild creatures as domestic pets. 
They are belong to the wild, no matter how cute they are.

The duridurirams

Do you remember about this sneak peek I made last month?

I was waiting for my online store opening (let's say etsy), but due to many problems, it won't happen any sooner :(

So...I don't think I have no reason to make you wait any longer to meet the Duridurirams

"Why do we have to stay still in pots while we can go and hanging out?"

There are 5 Duridurirams with 5 different flowers (pink, purple, green, yellow, and blue)

All made by cotton yarn, clay teeth, and plastic eyes

they are about 6cm height and very light

The Duridurirams are available for adoption for 70000 IDR/ each

they don't really like to stay in pots, but you'll get free pot for every Duridurirams adoption :)

and guess what? there's a cute pouch as a bonus for every doll adoption,

exclusively made by my Mom :)

The World Cup is Coming!!!

I never consider myself as a sport fans, but World Cup is coming!!!
So I made this Jakumi doll.
I couldn't make the doll similar to the real Zakumi, so I made my own version as part of the gigi series :)


It would be shameful to call it Zakumi, so this is Jakumi, fake Zakumi
He is a Zakumi fans.


Indonesia is not yet participating at this World Cup :(
So my support goes to the France team, since I was born at France :)

whichever team you are supporting, Let's Celebrate the World Cup! YAY!

PS: I'm allergic to birds feather, so it's impossible for me to check on real bird's teeth

Waiting room

I get bored of waiting for that administrative stuff (to open that 'store')
it's been a week, and there would be more waits :(

So, I took my hook and doing another dolls for the gigi series :D

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Rat

I made it last night.
Rat is the first animal on Chinese Zodiac, and also my zodiac :)

Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down,
Hickory, dickory, dock.

The "Hickory Dickory Dock" toys behind was my favorite toys when I was a toddler :)
I made the dolls while memorizing the song.

Semut Semut Aww

"Semut Semut Aww" is an ending lyric from a famous rock Indonesian Song Semut Hitam (means black ant)
Semut is Ant in Indonesian.

By the way, what am I doing for the few weeks?
I was making amigurumis. A lot of amigurumis.
My target was making at least one amigurumi a week.
But I can't put the amigurumis picture here for some reason.
Yeah, it's a secret thing, and it's suck.

And for this week, I'm making a working ant.
Instead of using black, I used brown, cause I hate working in black.
Why an ant?

Ants are cute right? black and small :D
They are working everyday for their colony
They are famous, they have 2 famous animated movies "a Bug's life" and "Antz"
So why not an ant?

And of course I'm making the smiling ant, because this ant is a kind creature.
When I was making this Ant-gurumi , I asked my sister how many legs it has.
She guessed six (which is right), but to make sure she was instantly looking for ants at the kitchen.
She was an ant bully, and for the sake of this kind creatures, I had to stop her.
So I'm proudly say that no ants were harmed during the process.

The Idea Lamp

This week I had an idea blockages.
So this time I made the most important amigurumi, The Idea.
He is an Idea Lamp, just like in most cartoon or comic.
But of course mine should have some teeth to make it shine brighter :D

Here come the Zpiderdzigh!

This blog name is zpiderdzigh, how could I never made a spider?
Continuing the "Gigi" series, I made the spider have some sharp tooth.
Of course you never saw the real spider teeth,
If you did, it must be the last thing you saw in this world.

What's the Gigi series, you asked?
I haven't found a better name for my "amigurumi with teeth"-series, so for now, lets called them as the Gigi series.
Gigi is "teeth" in Bahasa Indonesia.
as in the last post, there will be more of the gigi series :D
