the mini Wonderfive

just when I started to feel bored looking at my cubicle, then the Wonderfive coming.
what? you don't know the wonderfive?

from left to right, wonder-octo, wonder-bunny, wonder-bear, wonder-pig, wonder-chick, the Wonderfive!

I didn't notice they were coming cause they are so tiny!  but of course they wouldn't be called The Wonderfive if they were just tiny.

while the wonder-octo supposedly live at the sea, he prefers standing at franken's head
the wonder-chick gave up learning to fly so she's trying to get a license to ride a flamingo
being a huge fans of Walking Dead TV series, Wonder-bunny teased the zombie gorilla, not a wise choice.
Wonder-bear proved to be the bravest, took a picture together with a dead rat... I don't think he killed the rat, did he?
meanwhile, the wonder-pig....
... was ceased by the Big Bad Wolf
ah, I'm so sorry, Wonder Pig

by the way I spent my weekend making the big bad wolf, so of course there would be more story about him, soon!
all pics were edited using picmonkey , go try it :D

Hidden

it was an ordinary morning, I was starring at the corner of my desk
look at it closely, there's something odd.
HEY! what are you doing there!
there's a little chick playing hide and seek in the jar...

** tried using Picmonkey an online photo editor... cause I don't have real smartphone to try instagram and I'm a photoshop dummy -_-"

Why jumps ?

there's no story behind this amigurumi. but if you want to read some, then let me write it:

"a quick brown fox jump over the lazy dog"
*don't waste your time correcting the statement above, my fox is orange-ish red, not brown.
one question:  Why jumps? while the fox could... let say ride a can? wooshHH!!!

woosh!!!

told you, I have no story behind this little fox :p
the fox made using a combination of crochet and knitting technique.

Peribahasa: Bagai katak di bawah tempurung

Let's learn some peribahasa (proverb in Bahasa) again!
"Bagai katak di bawah tempurung"

translations: Like a frog under a (coconut) shell.

Yup.. the frog is under the coconut shell, not over a coconut shell and not inside the coconut shell.
so the frog is trapped under the coconut shell, she barely see anything outside the shell (hmm I wonder if the frog is claustrophobic)
anyway the proverb refers to a person who has a very little knowledge.  He/she doesn't know the world is actually wide and large and there are more to find out.
Listen well my friend, don't be a frog under the coconut shell :)

I repeat the right proverb is "bagai katak di bawah tempurung" not "bagai katak dalam tempurung"

by the way I don't remember how many frog amigurumis I have made... I really never get bored of this creature.

just some of the frog I made this year... there would be more I guess.

well, sometimes I do

sometimes when I'm too tired of being myself, I try doing something I didn't like.
making lace.  I love lace, but it's not my cup of tea to make it.
so when Lia asked me to make her a doily, I took weeks doing nothing.
untill last week, I was tired after selling craft in a bazzar, too bored with my job and not in mood for making amigurumi, I tried to crochet some lace based on a Japanese pattern book.

not only making the doily for Lia, I also made some petite lace.. cause it's fun to make it.
oh yes, by the end of the day, I made a mini pig amigurumi too.

an extra... nobody order this... but I was in mood to make it, so I made small flower lace for the envelope and my business card.

Redesigning toys: wind up amigurumi frog

Toy shop is always be my second favorite place to visit.
it's the second favorite after book shop cause there are more bookshops than toy shops.
I love admiring cute toys, like cooking toys set and of course plushies :)
but toys are not always cute and easily loved, blame the human who made it  (just watch the Toy Story).
The Toys need help.
so I secretly made a mission to give a "face lift" to cheap toys.
last week, I finally found a cheap wind up toys at the supermarket.
it's perfect cause it has teeth!  reminds me of my gigi series.
the first wind up toy I bought were already broken, so I tried my luck to buy the second one, and thankfully it's fine, so I didn't wait any longer to do the operation.

on the right hand is the original wind up toys

after the operation, a smiling wind up frog amigurumi

I shot a video of the jumping frog but somehow it ended up broken during the upload process.

Updated June 4th, reupload the video using Flickr... now we can watch the frog jumps :)

Half way to go

look at the calendar!  Do you see what I see?
I've been living at Jakarta for a half year! Wow!
after decorating one side of my cubicle, now it's time to decorate another side with Zpider's web.
it has been 6 month so of course there would be some spider webs somewhere.
like I wrote before, I'm not good in knitting or crocheting things beside amigurumi, but I'm happy enough with the web (doily) shape hanging at my cubicle's wall :)

I think I will add more spiders... the more the merrier, the bigger the better, wouldn't it be nice to see creepy little critters crawling everywhere making doilies?

That Red Muppet Named Elmo

my friend requested an Elmo amigurumi

I secretly took Elmo's photo sitting at a colleague's desk :p

Our First Debut as Gondangdia Afterwork

last year I joined my first bazaar at Tobucil alone, and this year I joined my first bazaar as Gondangdia Afterwork member again at Tobucil.
it was really really fun. Tired of course, but I'm very happy that I have talented friends to collaborate with.
and it was a great success.
the smile of my friends when I told them about the positive respond from the bazaar visitor is priceless!
We agreed on founding Gondangdia Afterwork to specially join the Crafty Days event but I don't think I would mind if there will be more events to attend together :)
It's always a fun experience to visit or to join the Crafty Days at Tobucil,  I could meet crafty people, and of course craft lover.
and the fun multiplied cause this year my BFF accompany me during the first day, helping me manage the stand, and then also brought her family to buy a lot of things from my stand at the second day.
ah... it's really nice to have friends :)

me and my best friend, Gita...
Yes no matter how busy we were, there's always time to take a picture!

ah.. found a picture of mine (on the right)

the more the merrier, this could be the most crowded stand :p

sorry, I don't have the close up picture of the crafty things we sell there.

but I did bought a lot of things! it's hard to pick just one as my favorite.
I love the brown coin purse from Simalakama, a book (the one on black pouch) from The Mogus, small bag from kiniakara, a journal from Journ(al)ey , a metal cloud key chain from cinnabar and a free notebook from Martha Steward House and Living Magazine.

PS: oh no another post with a lot of my faces, you'll get bored of me.... I'll be back with a new post soon!
this time is for sure!

nerd eyeglasses

I wear eyeglasses since I was 11 years old, I wish I don't have to wear any eyeglasses, so I really can't get it why people with normal eyes are so into what they said "geeky look".
My father always ask me, why don't I wear eyeglasses when I slepping, can I see my dream clearly without my eyeglasses. it's useless to argue with him, anyway.
now, I found a solution.  eyeglasses that I could wear when I sleep.
it's nerdy, just like Dexter's (Dexter's laboratory, not that bloody TV series)
and I looked freakingly scary, I guess nobody would disturb my "beauty sleep" now.

it's really hard to take self picture especially when you don't see anything

by the way I'm not proud with the result, and I was just wasting my yarns and my time to make useless project, but it felt good :D
I really feel better after a few days of stress and bad mood.  that's why I love to crochet and knitting :p

I'll be back with the amigurumis soon ;)
