Kopas The Thief

I almost always making the amigurumi version of my animation character.  If you wonder what am I doing from May to August, the answer is finishing "Kopas The Thief" animation project for the ASEAN Animation Festival 2014.
(yeah... finally I can blame Kopas for making me missing my blog)

The amigurumi was not required, but I made it as a lucky charm.  You can read more about the animation on the other blog.
I made it a few days before the proposal deadline, so instead fixing my proposal, I knitting this doll.  In the end I never show this amigurumi to the audience because I used the wrong yarn color and it's not really similar to the character design.  But I think this amigurumi is really a lucky charm, cause later I went to Bangkok twice and I *beeep beeep beeep beeep* at November 26th thanks to this animation project.

:p  well just wait, you will see what happen at that date.

UPDATE August 25th 2015: nothing happened on November 26. actually I was invited to some kind of ministry event (Indonesian) but later they didn't contacted me about the details. I don't know what happened.  who am I anyway?

Hello October Octopus!

it's august by the way. I just wanna make a catchy title for my newest octopus amigurumi.  I made this octopus for my BFF, Gita, as birthday present.  Octoper (october Octopus) was supposed to be July Octopus, but I just finished it at August. since we lived at different city, I could only meet her during holiday.
I think I made octopus amigurumi several time, just like the frog amigurumi.  Maybe because both of them tasted good (?)
a photo session at the boarding house before the holiday. I can't find a better background here.

and another photo session at home, during the holiday. so green and Happy. see how different?

and this is the octoper with Gita and Me.  photo by Gita

before the holiday, I have multiple deadlines, mostly animation projects, so knitting this Octoper after hours of clicking mouse marathon was...stupid. I can't move any fingers after the last stitch. But I'm glad I could finish it right before the holiday.
thanks to @tjikini for all the caffeine during fasting month.  More deadlines means more coffee, that's the logic.
Tjikini is one of my favorite coffee shop, you should try it if you visit Jakarta. beside coffee, Tjikini also serve Sarsaparilla (the traditional "Tjap Badak" Sarsaparilla).  numerous of stranger ask me where to get Sarsaparilla in Jakarta, now you know the answer.

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih

Bawang Merah  and Bawang Putih

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih were the hottest issue in Indonesia.  that was last month (or last couple months?).
I wanted to cover hot issue, making amigurumi of that when the issue were still fresh, but I had this severe laziness and too many excuses.  And making amigurumi based on actual news is tiring.
Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih were the hot topic because the prices are ridiculously high since the last couple months.  Who doesn't know the importance of Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih?  Even me who never cook, knew that Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih are the crucial ingredient for Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and many other Indonesian food.

quick bahasa (Indonesian language) lessons:

Garlic in bahasa is Bawang Putih (white bawang)
Shallot in bahasa is Bawang Merah (red bawang)
Onion in bahasa is Bawang Bombay (bawang from Bombay)

Bawang Merah, the bully

Maybe because we use Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih everyday, the names are used for a folktales.

Astérix ét Obélix au service du sa majesté

Astérix et Obélix

Astérix et Obélix

Astérix et Obélix

I specially made this amigurumis to join The Francophonié Photo Contest.  The theme was "comme au cinema". and I pick Astérix et Obélix cause they are my favorite comic hero from the 2012 France Movie Festival.
I spent a whole month doing nothing else but knitting afterwork and during the weekend just to finish this amigurumis.  So it's really heartbreaking when I knew that I lost.  I admit that the photograph is nothing special and I knew I didn't deserve to win (who am I kidding, I'm an amateur photographer!).  But once again, I spent a whole month, damm*t !  That stripped pants was killing my hands, but I'm glad it's done perfectly. Except.... the world didn't see them :(

I lost so many competitions but this one is terribly devastating, cause I kinda hope I could visit my birthplace (the first prize was a trip to France).  Maybe not today.  Someday, I hope I will be able to visit France with my own effort.

by the way I really need that French language course, since it's a shame for me to be born in France but unable to speak French anymore :((

OMGrumi: Angry Ahok

this amigurumi is my last amigurumi in 2012, as a conclusion of my first year in Jakarta.
Ahok is a nick name of the new vice-governor in Jakarta. (since 2012).
I'm not a permanent citizen of Jakarta, but I have been living in Jakarta for a year and maybe for another year (NOOOOOO!!!)
I didn't have a right to vote the governor of Jakarta, but I think it's a good thing that Jokowi and Ahok won the election.
because as soon as they become the official governor and vice governor, they started to fix Jakarta's infrastructures.
You could easily find news or video of Ahok being angry at some officers who didn't do their job right.

I made it using "survival knitting kits" left in my home.
Not really survival, but most of my knitting needles are in Jakarta, I didn't bring them along to Bandung.
Luckily, there are some yarns, cable knitting needles and some of my sister's crafting supplies.
I can't make the eyeglasses though :(
the Angry Ahok is very small, only 5 cm.

oh by the way, 2012 is also the angry birds' year.  but no, I won't make any angry birds amigurumi.

after a long knitting time

finally done this spider I started a long time ago for the TV show
I rarely use multicolored yarns (some says it's batik yarns).
and yes, it's my first time using it for amigurumi.
I can't say I hate the colors and the motifs, cause it's interesting and surprising, I didn't know how it would be before it's finally done.

another spider in zpiderdzigh family :)

Jellybeans for adoption, save me from boredom!

it's time to gather some more money because, my dear netbook has been acting up since last week.
I need a new notebook or PC (or Mac) immidiatelly.
Living without TV and Air Conditioner was no big deal, but I can't live without computers.
things get worse since I am living alone, and I am broke and the payday is not coming untill next week.
so please help me :((
the android is available for adoption, to save me from boredom*. How about for IDR 300000?
you'll get the jellybeans too.

*)I'm so desperate in fixing my netbook, that I made a new android doll for my friend in exchange of fixing the netbook. the first attempt to fix it failed, so does the second and the third. So now it's available for adoptions.

Mosquitos, Spider and Roaches

as I said on the last post, today I'm having a day off because of the election day.
I could have meet my sister, or my friends, but I didn't want to take a risk being in a long line waiting for the bus ride.
so I planned to stay nearby.
it's kinda lonely spending a day off alone, but there was a lot of thing to do.
First, clean up my room and exterminate the mosquitos.
then watched The Amazing Spiderman at the theater (oh yes, lucky me, living near a theater).
then checking e-mail and found an e-mail from Travis, the winner of my knitted roaches.

I downloaded the picture with my eyes closed, just in case he send me a picture of  him with the roaches in his mouth, since he is the record holder for holding the most roaches in mouth :).
Gladly, it's not.

the knitted roaches with Travis' real roach

and by the way, here's the picture from Rudy, the other knitted roach's winner:

funny, how happy I am looking at a picture of roaches :)
afterall it's not really a lonely day for me, it's a bug day.
thanks for taking times to take and send me the pictures of the knitted roaches, you made my day :)

I miss that you missed, Paul!

it's too late to write about the Euro, now that the Euro was over.
too late to write about Paul, too, that his season has passed.
but... don't you miss him?

"I don't care who's winning, I'm in Octopus heaven"

I planned to make Paul the octopus amigurumi before the German Vs Italy match, but I was busy doing something else.
Then I planned to finish the amigurumi before the Euro final match, but I didn't make it.
I went to Bandung last weekend, to see the FRI 2012, and as you see, I ended up making Paul amigurumi using that pink-gold yarns with that silvery green needle.
just so you know, before I got those yarn, I already begin making Paul amigurumi using hook and another yarn.
I rarely use fancy yarn, especially gold yarn, but now that Paul is no longer a mortal,  I think the shinning yarn would fit :).

Paul's wearing gold and ready to Disco!!!

there's an annual event for  knitters around the world called Worldwide Knit in Public Day (WWKIP).
Indonesian knitter also celebrate the event by doing some knitter gathering, and later made Festival Rajutan Indonesia (Indonesian Knitting Festival or FRI)

while last year the FRI theme was amigurumi, I sent some of my amigurumi to the exhibition but can't attend the event. I didn't join the WWKIP last year cause I was very shy.  This year, after training myself to knit on train, I decide to join both FRI and WWKIP.

the mini Wonderfive

just when I started to feel bored looking at my cubicle, then the Wonderfive coming.
what? you don't know the wonderfive?

from left to right, wonder-octo, wonder-bunny, wonder-bear, wonder-pig, wonder-chick, the Wonderfive!

I didn't notice they were coming cause they are so tiny!  but of course they wouldn't be called The Wonderfive if they were just tiny.

while the wonder-octo supposedly live at the sea, he prefers standing at franken's head
the wonder-chick gave up learning to fly so she's trying to get a license to ride a flamingo
being a huge fans of Walking Dead TV series, Wonder-bunny teased the zombie gorilla, not a wise choice.
Wonder-bear proved to be the bravest, took a picture together with a dead rat... I don't think he killed the rat, did he?
meanwhile, the wonder-pig....
... was ceased by the Big Bad Wolf
ah, I'm so sorry, Wonder Pig

by the way I spent my weekend making the big bad wolf, so of course there would be more story about him, soon!
all pics were edited using picmonkey , go try it :D

Why jumps ?

there's no story behind this amigurumi. but if you want to read some, then let me write it:

"a quick brown fox jump over the lazy dog"
*don't waste your time correcting the statement above, my fox is orange-ish red, not brown.
one question:  Why jumps? while the fox could... let say ride a can? wooshHH!!!

woosh!!!

told you, I have no story behind this little fox :p
the fox made using a combination of crochet and knitting technique.

Half way to go

look at the calendar!  Do you see what I see?
I've been living at Jakarta for a half year! Wow!
after decorating one side of my cubicle, now it's time to decorate another side with Zpider's web.
it has been 6 month so of course there would be some spider webs somewhere.
like I wrote before, I'm not good in knitting or crocheting things beside amigurumi, but I'm happy enough with the web (doily) shape hanging at my cubicle's wall :)

I think I will add more spiders... the more the merrier, the bigger the better, wouldn't it be nice to see creepy little critters crawling everywhere making doilies?

Peribahasa: Ada Gula Ada Semut

okay, it's time for a new (photo) series.
it's called Peribahasa means proverb in bahasa Indonesia.
the first peribahasa is "Ada gula, ada semut" (There's sugar, so there are some ants)
means if there's anything interesting, there would be some crowd surrounding it in no time.

zoomed a lot of time, you'll see the ant trying to bring more than she could.

it's my second time making ant amigurumi.
here's the first one, the crocheted smilling ant
this time it's knitted and it's gray cause.... I hate black yarns :)

No Title

No description.
No stories behind, tho you might have guessed it ;)
