Peribahasa: Ada Udang di Balik Batu

it's time to learn another Indonesian proverb!

"Ada udang di balik batu"
literal translation: there's prawn behind the rock
means there's something "fishy" or hidden intention behind someone's attitude.

in a Malaysian movie I recently watch, the proverb written as "Udang di sebalik batu", but I think the meaning are the same.
speaking about prawn, there's another proverb involving Prawn:

Otak + Udang

"Otak udang" (Prawn's brains) means dumb or stupid.
because prawn's brain are dirty, if you like to cook some prawn, then you know that there are a lot of crap in it's back (not really in its head, but yeah, it's dirty).

the brain part received a lot of critic because it is too clean, too white and looks more like coral.
it was very difficult to make, I spent two whole nights to made it, so I have to ignore their comments :p
it's not just brains, there's a little twist behind that brains.

it's reversible! when reversed, the brains become the rock.
so I invented a new proverb is "ada otak udang di balik batu" (there's a prawn's brain behind the rock)
it could means there's a dumb intention behind someone's attitude :p

Peribahasa: Bagai katak di bawah tempurung

Let's learn some peribahasa (proverb in Bahasa) again!
"Bagai katak di bawah tempurung"

translations: Like a frog under a (coconut) shell.

Yup.. the frog is under the coconut shell, not over a coconut shell and not inside the coconut shell.
so the frog is trapped under the coconut shell, she barely see anything outside the shell (hmm I wonder if the frog is claustrophobic)
anyway the proverb refers to a person who has a very little knowledge.  He/she doesn't know the world is actually wide and large and there are more to find out.
Listen well my friend, don't be a frog under the coconut shell :)

I repeat the right proverb is "bagai katak di bawah tempurung" not "bagai katak dalam tempurung"

by the way I don't remember how many frog amigurumis I have made... I really never get bored of this creature.

just some of the frog I made this year... there would be more I guess.

Peribahasa: Ada Gula Ada Semut

okay, it's time for a new (photo) series.
it's called Peribahasa means proverb in bahasa Indonesia.
the first peribahasa is "Ada gula, ada semut" (There's sugar, so there are some ants)
means if there's anything interesting, there would be some crowd surrounding it in no time.

zoomed a lot of time, you'll see the ant trying to bring more than she could.

it's my second time making ant amigurumi.
here's the first one, the crocheted smilling ant
this time it's knitted and it's gray cause.... I hate black yarns :)
