Reborn Project

It's October 2016!  I've been away for way too long!
I was so busy with everything, like new work habbits, never ending "new rules", freelance project, and preparing my trip to Dok Leipzig 2016.  I almost had no time to relax since July.
Then "yesterday" happened.
I had to resign from the company I've been working for almost 5 years :(
Although I said that I wanted to resign, and I didn't really like the job, but I was so devastated that I have to quit without any plan or preparation.  It's a love-hate situations, but since there was love, even a very tiny little bit, it is really painful.
But I know it's the best for everyone. I understand.  And I am still proud for ever be a part of the company.

ANYWAY... since the moment was right, after I came home yesterday, I made the "reborn project".
Actually I had this idea for a long time, but have no time to do it.  Since I have no excuse, I made the project last night.
So I found a wind-up-chick at Sukajadi market (I think It was only one dollar, very cheap).  Since Dok Leipzig logo (or is it mascot?) is a white dove, then I reskin it into an amigurumi dove.
Of course it is anatomically wrong, the proportion is wrong, so at least let's try to make it cute.

Redesigning toys: Little Drummer Bear

so I continued my journey on collecting cheap toys and found a Drummer Monkey.
there were actually a Drummer Rabbit, Panda, and Chicken too, but all that left in the store are the monkeys, cause obviously, it's kinda creepy.
I brought the monkey home and put a mask and artificial hands.
I crocheted him a sweater too but he can't move with the heavy sweater so I have to keep the old clothes on him for now.

AFTER:

and he's now rehearsing for the Christmas Act.  yes, as the little drummer boy :)

IYC Festival 2012 at Thamrin Nine

My friend from Gondangdia Afterwork, Gazali (owner of Khaf Wooden Toys), was once again got a commission to make a placard for an annual event : Indonesian Youth Festival (IYC)
this year, he invited the whole Gondangdia Afterwork crew to join the Festival and opening a booth there.
I didn't come to the event, but some of my amigurumi and display from my cubicle shown at the booth.

Mr Gazali and the Gondangdia Afterwork booth

Specially for this event, Gazali asked me to make some costume for his Dakochan toy.
it was a fun challenge that I have to design various costume, add some personality to the dakochans while keeping the uniqueness off the dakochan's shape.

from left to right :  Dakochan girl, Dakochan bee, Dakochan Afro, Dakochan Reggae, Dakochan bandit, French Dakochan.

You could order your own dakochan with custom costume too (specially made by me), the price starts from IDR 20000.  (How about a pair of dakochans for wedding cake ?) Or you could also buy the original dakochan without clothes so you could paint it yourself.  For further information, please check Khaf's blog here.

Cockroach Makeover

some friends complaining when I uploaded a lot of cockroach amigurumi pictures earlier this year.
not really sorry, I made another one.
it's different! can you tell what's different?

If your answer is "the eyes", then you are half right.
it's moving, seriously, I'm not imagining things, the cockroach amigurumi can move on its own.
during my mission to give cheap toys make over, I found a cockroach toys. this one was not cheap actually.
unlike the rubber or plastic cockraoach I had, it's battery operated and moving everywhere.

How cool is that? (or it's just the creepy me love to play with silly toys).

Redesigning toys: wind up amigurumi frog

Toy shop is always be my second favorite place to visit.
it's the second favorite after book shop cause there are more bookshops than toy shops.
I love admiring cute toys, like cooking toys set and of course plushies :)
but toys are not always cute and easily loved, blame the human who made it  (just watch the Toy Story).
The Toys need help.
so I secretly made a mission to give a "face lift" to cheap toys.
last week, I finally found a cheap wind up toys at the supermarket.
it's perfect cause it has teeth!  reminds me of my gigi series.
the first wind up toy I bought were already broken, so I tried my luck to buy the second one, and thankfully it's fine, so I didn't wait any longer to do the operation.

on the right hand is the original wind up toys

after the operation, a smiling wind up frog amigurumi

I shot a video of the jumping frog but somehow it ended up broken during the upload process.

Updated June 4th, reupload the video using Flickr... now we can watch the frog jumps :)
